Local Builder Inspires ROP Students With Vocational Day Event

Jurupa Valley—November 13, 2019—

Invision Communities has developed a program to introduce and create awareness of the many diverse career opportunities that are available in the construction industry to Regional Occupational Program (ROP) high school students looking ahead to their future careers.

Team members currently working on the new Vista Cielo at Indian Hills community project in Jurupa Valley were on hand to provide a one-day training session for the Jurupa Valley High School students at the site, who donned their new hard hats and walked the ongoing construction site, while being introduced with a first-hand look at the ongoing activities of some of the many career opportunities that exist in the residential building industry today.

Bill Rattazzi, Executive Vice President and COO of Invision Community Builders said, “It was a rewarding day with the students of Jurupa Valley High, where we could offer valuable information to those interested, curious and considering careers in the construction industry.”

The Vista Cielo project team, consisting of senior management of various subcontractors, sales staff, design center staff and the project superintendent offered demonstrations, Q&A time, and took the ROP students from the beginning phase of community development to the final completion.

“The students came away with a new perspective on how the might get into the residential building business as well as ideas they can consider for future careers. Some may not go on to college, some may go to college, and some may matriculate from those various institutions with many ideas and considerations, but all will be enriched by the experience at our day session,” Rattazzi added. “I thank everyone including some of our subcontractors that dedicated this day to offer their experiences and insights to inspire the students. The construction business may not be the first choice of those who wish to have a career of money and fame; certainly there are those exciting and ‘cool’ jobs out there as perceived by today’s young people, but in my mind there is no more rewarding career from both a professional as well as financial position than the one that all of us have chosen. And that message came across loud and clear to these students,” Rattazzi added.

Invision Communities is dedicated to organizing and continuing the one-day student vocational programs going forward. “It was a great opportunity to spend a day with a working young men and women and our team members on a project in progress. We all learned a lot from it,” said Rattazzi.
